I have always been involved in artistic and creative processes. As a child I was surrounded and encouraged by creative people, which taught me that you can be creative in so many ways. I pursued a career in design which evolved into graphic design and marketing; a career which challenged and stretched me. A mid life change in direction encouraged me to approach my life and career with a more holistic approach which has enabled me to find balance in life.
I now work as a therapist, which I consider to be a creative profession and my art compliments this role, enabling me to practice mindfulness and explore my artistic capabilities. I am inspired by my imagination and my surroundings and I aim to push the boundaries of my creativity by working with different mediums, techniques, canvases and themes. As I reflect on my life and career I recognise a parallel and growth. My work now represents who I have become, it is (as am I) 3 dimensional, full of colour, vibrancy and luminosity. I am proud of this transition and change.

I’m a mixed-media artist inspired by the colours, textures, and ever-shifting moods of nature — but over time, wood has become my true canvas.
What began as experimentation has grown into a specialism: working with wood not just as a surface, but as a collaborator. I’m continually drawn to its grain, warmth, weight, and natural imperfections, allowing each piece of timber to influence the direction of the work. Rather than covering these characteristics, I embrace them — letting knots, markings, and textures become part of the story. The result is artwork that feels grounded, tactile, and entirely individual.
From hand-painted wooden miniatures and bookmarks to distinctive one-off statement pieces, my practice centres on celebrating both craftsmanship and the organic character of the material itself.
I’m passionate about making art accessible, creating smaller, affordable originals that invite more people to bring creativity into their everyday lives. Alongside my wood-based collections, I also produce abstract pieces and a curated range of gifts and greeting cards, each echoing the natural textures and tones that remain at the heart of my work.

My sustainable art practice is rooted in a commitment to environmental responsibility, using reclaimed and weathered wood as my canvas and inspiration wherever possible. I work with rescued timber off-cuts and driftwood shaped by the elements, transforming discarded pieces into meaningful art.
You can view my art and craft pieces at various art fairs, craft fairs, and select retail locations. You can currently locate my art here. Keep an eye out for announcements on upcoming fairs and retail collaborations on my news page or or on Instagram (@sallieeleyart).
